The Special Relationship

It's been a really lovely weekend and I've so much to share, including our exciting new piece of art work, however I thought I'd start with sharing something I've been working on.

Wedding season is certainly here and I've been extremely busy creating personalised invitations and stationary. This weekend was the wedding of our friends for whom I made the International Engagement Card. I was delighted that they loved it so much that they wanted their table accessories to continue the theme. I spent the week before last putting my origami folding skills to the test to create 50 of the flag inspired hearts which were then mounted onto simple folded cards with the individual guest names printed on.

The venue was a great setting and the tables were decorated beautifully. The name places and table names sat well alongside the beautiful flowers and gift box favours, all of which were admired by the guests. I had some wonderful comments and a fair bit of blushing following the groom's extremely kind words! Their thanks are truly appreciated and it was a real honour to be part of their special occasion.

I also created a simple table plan on the same theme with smaller origami hearts adding decoration to the seating layout... I think this worked out really well if I do say so myself!

It really was a wonderful occasion and it was great to meet so many lovely people. I'm so pleased that we (and my creations) could be part of that. Thank you again Robin and Andrew and all the best for this next chapter of your lives!

two (or four) of my favourite things...

I don't post for ages and then twice in one day!

However I was so excited when I saw this, screaming two of my favourite subjects at me, on one of my favourite sources of inspiration, Design Sponge, I just couldn't help myself!

I won't talk too much about the book as Design Sponge contributor Amy Azzarito introduces it wonderfully here (and plus I haven't actually seen it in real life yet!) but on first viewing the images look truly beautiful and anyone who knows me knows what a huge cat lover I am and of my dreams to live in France one day... (even more so seeing these gorgeous residents!)

You see more gorgeous photos on her website here and also read more about the artist and her wonderful work here (*warning* it may make you very jealous!)

p.s if you're wondering what my fourth favourite thing is it is of course books (which anyone who knows me has probably guessed, including my wonderful husband who I know when he reads this will think I can't possibly need anymore but I'm banking on the image above for persuasion!)

Easter crafting

Rather than Easter cards (or excessive amounts of chocolate) I decided to make these sweet origami Easter Bunnies. Using offcuts of recycled wrapping paper I think they turned out rather delightfully!

My Easter crafting did not end there however! Along with some wedding stationary making and planning, I also participated in a bit of creative egg decorating with my mum and sister. After grasping how to blow the eggs we dyed them with food colouring combinations mixed with vinegar.

We experimented with tape and elastic bands to achieve different decorative effects on the eggs, it was certainly an interesting challenge with lots of learning along the way but we were pretty pleased with the results!

Happy Easter!
