Origin finds - Rebecca Coles

One final paper crafter, I discovered at Origin and am now also totally crazy about is Rebecca Coles. Rebecca dissects small details of colour, imagery and text into silhouettes that are then re-sculptured, pinned and encased, 'transforming every day objects into a piece of work that invites the viewer to see beyond its original source'.

Her handcut paper butterflies are truely amazing creations. I could have stood at her stand for hours just observing the beautiful pieces, with each view offering a different perspective of the bewildering 'three-dimensional decorative forms materialised out of flat sheets of paper'. They really have to be seen in real life to grasp their true wow factor. I have tried to capture some of these amazing elements within the photos below taken from her website but again it was so difficult to choose my favourites!

The tactility of the pieces is just wonderful. Just looking at them I so want to run my hands delicately through the swarms of emerging butterflies. The pins are used so creatively within the pieces, adding wonderful detail and creating beautiful tonal effects. Thank you Rebecca for sharing your work and truely inspiring me.
